Young adult novels have slowly become my favourite genre, something so magical and timeless. High school has been my favourite period in my life so far, so reading anything that can let me relive that makes me so happy. This novel is one that needs to be read by EVERY young girl, it touches on topics that is not taught in sex-ed, that masturbation is important to explore during puberty, that sex will be different for everyone and the time it happens is different as well.

“To be honest, the sex pact wasn’t always part of the plan. Layla stated it. She announced it super casually to the rest of girls between bites of frozen yogurt, as if it were simply another addition to her massive, ever-evolving to-do list. She is determined to have sex for the first time before the end of high school. Initially, the rest of the crew is surprised, but once they all admit to wanting to lose their V-cards too, they embark on a quest to do the deed together…separately”
“Layla’s got it in the bag. Her serious boyfriend, Logan, has been asking for months. Alex has already done it. Or so she says. Emma doesn’t know what the fuss is all about, but sure, she’ll give it a shot. And Zoe, well, Zoe can’t even say the o word without bursting into giggles. Will everything go according to plan? Probably not. But as least the girls have each other every hilarious, heartwarming, cringe-inducing step of the way.”

When I lost my V-card in my last year of High School, I wish that I had this novel to help me every step of the way. That’s it’s okay to wait, or talk about it with friends. I lost my V-card and the next day my boyfriend at the time broke up with me at my locker. I was heartbroken, I thought that it was me, that boys wouldn’t want to have sex with me. I was so WRONG, I feel that we don’t teach enough in Sex-ed, that its important for females to masturbate, it helps with period cramps and to discover what feels good for you. This book does a wonderful job at describing what is important growing up, finding a great group of friends to help you find yourself along the way. I loved all the characters, it was predicable and made me feel like I was young again.
5/5 Stars for this novel!
