By Stephenie Meyer

The Twilight Saga and The Hunger Games series were the only two series that I read while I was in high school outside of the required reads for English classes. I had other priorities (mostly boys) at that point of my life. So I was obsessed with Edward Cullen, I loved him and I felt like he loved me as well. I can clearly remember loving New Moon so much as it was parallel vision of my high school boyfriend breaking up with me, I was sobbing so much in the movie trailer that the woman in front of me past a tissue pack to me. I loved falling in love with this series so in the middle of the pandemic when I found out that Meyer’s was releasing Edward’s point of view I couldn’t stop smiling. However, it took me a long time to read it as it did feel like I knew this story so well. I have seen the movie way more that the one time that I read Twilight, but this story is apart of my soul. It was pretty cool to hear/see the whole story from Edward’s point of view it made me see characters in new light as Edward has the ability to hear what people are thinking. I love this siblings so much except Rose, and it did feel like a fresh story in some scenes. I understand that Meyer’s was pretty limited with what new story she can create when the readers have seen/heard it from Bella’s point of view for 4 novel.

“When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella’s side of the story. At last, readers can experience Edward’s version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun.
This unforgettable tale as told through Edward’s eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire. As we learn more fascinating details about Edward’s past and the complexity of his inner thoughts, we understand why this is the defining struggle of his life. How can he justify following his heart if it means leading Bella into danger?” -Author’s synonyms from Goodreads
It was nice to relive one of my favourite stories, but I did realize that I have grown so much since first falling in love with Edward Cullen and I have found lots of fictional boyfriends since then. It was nice to get closure on this vampire love story but my vampire heart belongs to Demon Salvatore.
If you have never read the Twilight saga and you’re thinking that you want to start by reading this novel, I would suggest not….. just read Twilight and fall in love with Edward from Bella’s point of view. The plot is pretty much the same but also different at the same time, it was cool to see things from Edward’s option. I’m happy that Meyer’s was able to finish this novel, I know that it has been something that she has been working on for the last 10 years and it must feel nice to finish it and let it go.

Overall, it was 2 stars out of 5
