One Tiny Lie : A Novel

Ten Tiny Breaths Series, Novel #2

By K.A. Tucker

WOW! K.A. Tucker can do no wrong. The ten tiny breaths series has easily become one of my favourite series ever! Ten tiny breaths novel broke my heart and pieced it back together in the most loving and careful way. One tiny lie did the same but not as intense, I was still crying for most of the novel and I simply just wanted Livie to have a happy ending just like her sister found in the first novel. So my dreams did come true. K.A. Tucker is the ultimate Queen of writing contemporary romance novels, every single novel that I have read by her has been wonderfully beauitful and all 5 star reviews. She always writes amazing romance novels with very important messages that confront issues in society. This was no exception, trigger warnings for this novel will be children abuse, death, car accident, cancer, parents dead at a young age, and loud verbal fights.

“ Make me proud.” These were the last words Livie’s father ever spoke to her. In the seven years since her parents’ tragic death, Livie has done her best to live up to this standard through her every choice, word, and action, while looking after her sister with strength and maturity. But with college right around the corner, unexpected challenges will test her resilience- and her heart.

Live walks into Princeton with a solid plan, and she’s dead set on delivering on it: Rock her classes; set herself up for medical school; and meet a good, respectable guy to someday marry. Her plan definitely does not include Jell-O shots; a lovable, party animal roommate she can’t say “no” to; or Ashton, the arrogant- and extremely attractive- captain of the men’s rowing team who makes Livie’s usually nonexistent temper flare. Worse, he’s best friends and roommates with Connor, who happens to fit Livie’s criteria perfectly. So why does she keep thinking about Ashton?

As Livie finds herself facing mediocre grades, grades, career aspirations she no longer thinks she can handle, and feelings for Ashton that she shouldn’t have, she’s forced to let go for her last promise to her father, and, with it, the only identify she’s ever know.” -Author’s synonyms from the back of the novel.

One Tiny Lie follows the other Cleary sister (Livie) as she goes to Princeton after knowing her sister Kacey is fine in Miami. To live out her dream, but she realizes that everything is not what it seems; she’s fallen for the guy she shouldn’t be with Ashton and forcing reasons why she should be with Connor; struggling to stay on course to get into medical school and spending a lot of time with her partying roommate. Life is all about trial and error, but will Livie make the right choice for her happy ending or the one that she thinks others want for her?

I can relate to Livie in terms of feeling pressure to fulfil your parents expectations of career choice, my parents wanted me to be a nurse so I did that and after 3 years of working as a nurse I saw that it was killing me. I wasn’t able to work within a system that was so unfair and so corrupt. I felt like I was being completing drained of my soul and life; over worked, under staffed, workload more complex, no upstream thinking and little support. It was the most freeing thing that I ever did was walking away from nursing as a career, I’m much happier and my stress level is way better. I’ve learnt that life is about the little moments and you should spend it doing what you love, life is too short not to fill it with things that you love.

Thank you K.A. Tucker for writing another amazing novel, it was 5 stars out of 5 stars.

Keep on Reading,
